Flat maintenance charges shoot up to 18% post GST
Property manager Chandrasekar Kaliamurthy said the maintenance charges of 15 apartment complexes on Rajiv Gandhi Salai have gone up in the wake of GST
With resident welfare associations (RWAs) coming under the purview of the new GST regime, apartment dwellers in the city will now have to shell out an additional 3% in flat maintenance charges.
Property manager Chandrasekar Kaliamurthy said the maintenance charges of 15 apartment complexes on Rajiv Gandhi Salai have gone up in the wake of GST. "Previously, the service tax on maintenance charges for apartments located at Sholinganallur, Chemmencherry, Nalavur and Kelambakkam was 15%. But it has increased to 18% after the GST was implemented," he said. The maintenance charges range from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 10,000, he added.
